14 Million Nokia Chargers to be Recalled

No wonder Apple’s been dominating the cell phone industry these days, Nokia users can get quite a bad shock with their chargers!

Nokia is now recalling some 14 million chargers due to a "potential product quality issue". The said chargers, which were made by BYD Electronic Company of China, had a loose plastic cover that could potentially expose the circuitry inside.

Users whose fingers may touch the circuitry can get shocked by the charger while its plugged in an outlet.

Although the number of defective chargers were not specified by Nokia, the Associated Press has estimated it around 14 million. The defect was discovered by Nokia during a routine inspection but reported that no one has been injured by it.

The defective chargers are types AC-4U which were manufactured between April 13, 2009 and Oct. 25, 2009 and AC-3E and AC-3U which were made between June 15, 2009 and August 9, 2009.

Consumers who own any of the following defective chargers may contact Nokia and get their chargers replaced for free.

It is fortunate that so far by the time of Nokia’s recall, there have been no reported injuries caused by the defective charger.

Consumers or Nokia owners may have a potential product liability claim against the manufacturer and with 14 million defective chargers, there’s just as many potential lawsuits.
