November 3, 2010

Desert Hot Springs – A high-speed rollover accident near Desert hot Springs claimed the life of a 25-year-old woman early this morning.

The victim was identified by the Coroner’s investigators as Giselle Y. Phillips, also from Desert hot Springs.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Phillips was driving a silver 2003 Cadillac GTS at about 80 mph on the southbound lane of Indian Avenue at around 3:00 am when her vehicle started to drift across the northbound lane and onto the road shoulder.

The vehicle then rolled over and slammed into a Southern California Edison utility pole.

The CHP ruled out alcohol as a factor in the crash although they discovered that Phillips was not wearing a safety belt during the rollover accident.

The road was closed right after the crash but was reopened at about 6:20 am.
