SUV CRASH: 5 Seriously Injured After SUV Crashes in SF Muni Bus Stop

August 24, 2010

San Francisco – A single vehicle accident in San Francisco’s Visitacion Valley neighborhood Muni Stop has resulted in serious injuries to five people this morning.

The accident happened at about 9:30 am when a gray Ford Explorer lost control and crashed into a group of people in a bus stop of the San Francisco Municipal Railway Bus near the intersection of San Bruno and Arleta Avenues.

San Francisco Police Department said the 24-year-old female driver complained of mechanical problems while driving on the southbound lane of San Bruno. This led her to lose control of the SUV’s steering and veer off the road.

The Ford Explorer then crashed into a fence and into a number of people waiting in the Muni stop.

The five victims were brought to the San Francisco General Hospital. Four of the victims sustained serious injuries while one was in critical condition with life threatening injuries.

The driver was not injured and was fully cooperating with the police.

The crash is still under investigation and it is not clear if any charges will be filed against the driver.
