TRUCK ACCIDENT: Big Rig Driver Carrying Christmas Tree Injured in LA Downtown Crash

Los Angeles - A truck driver, carrying bulk of Christmas trees was injured in a crash on Los Angeles downtown interchange on Friday, reports said.

The big rig was reportedly traversing north of 101 Freeway and 110 Freeway interchange when the driver lost control of the wheels. The truck slid and tripped on its side, but the trees remained intact, according to CHP reports.

The driver suffered lacerations and bruises and were treated at a local hospital, reports said.

CHP police officers commented that the driver was speeding on the interchange when the truck toppled. Authorities shut down 101 and 110 interchange in the morning and were expected to resume by noon.

Heavy traffic occurred on Hollywood Freeway, affecting other routes to downtown Los Angeles.

The big rig was loaded with nearly 42,000 thousand pounds of Christmas trees which was supposed to be delivered to a Home Depot in Redondo Beach.

CHP police officers are still investigating the details on the cause of accident.
