PRODUCT RECALL: Brake Failure in Deere Lawn Tractors Triggers Federal Recall

September 15, 2011

Washington - The manufacturer of D100 lawn tractors has announced the federal recall of some 5,000 tractors for possible risk of brake failure, a Washington Post report said.

The report said the tractors that were included in the recall were manufactured Illinois-based Deere & Company and were sold at John Deere dealers, Lowe’s and Home Depot stores nationwide from October 2010 to September this year.

Authorities said the recall was initiated after it was found that the hardware used to hold the tractor’s brake assembly to the transmission housing is prone to break and could result in brake failure.

Although no injuries related to accidents involving Deere tractors have been reported yet, consumers were asked to contact the manufacturers for information on the recall. They can also visit the firm’s website at www.johndeere.com.for inquiries.
