CPSC prompted stricter recall protocol

November 25, 2006

Washington - The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has urged immediate action on the recall of defective and dangerous from the shelves. The call was made following a major recall of the drop down cribs from the market last Tuesday.

Deaths were reported from the cribs. “We were not advancing this case as quickly as possible . . . So, I put all of the resources for the agency on this project so that they could accomplish this goal of recalling the crib,” CPSC Chairman Inez Tenenbaum said regarding the recall of defective products.

Apparently, Stork Craft firmly stand by their products and said they were safe if the consumers used them correctly regardless of the reported deaths of babies that surfaced recently. CPSC mandates crib design standard but also considered banning the cribs because of the hazards it imposed.
