RECREATIONAL PARK ACCIDENT: Cal-OSHA Urge Knott's to Install Safety Device

May 18, 2010

Buena Park – State safety agency, Cal-OSHA (California Occupational Safety and Health Administration) has asked popular theme park, Knotts Soak City, to install special weighing scales to monitor weights of people getting into its raft rides at the New Pacific Spin ride.

The safety agency made the suggestion following a string of accidents involving rafts which capsized due to overloading. Knotts said they will abide by the requirement and will weight raft rider in groups, not individually. The results of the weighing will be monitored and administered by the ride operator.

Cal-OSHA is the state agency that regulates safety in theme park rides.
