CAR ACCIDENT: Car Crashes into Santa Clarita Gas Station

June 17, 2011

Santa Clarita – A gas station awning collapsed after a car crashed into it on Friday, 2 a.m.

According to LA County Sheriff’s Department spokesman Joe Effandt, the accident happened when a sheriff’s deputy saw the car stopped in the intersection near Newhall Avenue and Sierra Highway.

The deputy tried to pull the car over but the driver sped off and almost immediately crashed into a gas station.

The crash caused a small fuel leak and fire, said LA County Fire Department spokesman Quvondo Johnson.

A man and a woman, both in their mid-20’s, were extricated from the car and was taken to a hospital.
