Dog Bite Incident: City Animal Care Agency Euthanizes Two Dogs in Golden Gate Park Attack

San Francisco – The city Animal Care and Control agency has decided to euthanize two dogs responsible for attacking three people in Golden Gate Park early last month, reports said. The decision was reached after the agency finally determined that the dogs were not suitable for adoption.

Agency director Rebecca Katz said the two dogs, a male pitbull and a female shepherd mix, were captured by their officer on the morning of July 1 after injuring two people in Stow Lake.

The victims of the attack included a 57-year old male and a 71-year old woman, who were both taken to San Francisco General Hospital after the incident. Another woman was attacked but was not hurt.

It took two hours before the authorities were able to capture and subdue the dogs. Police officers even had to shoot the pitbull in the face in order to subdue it.

Both dogs were treated and monitored in the city kennel as police searched for the owners who were not found. The dogs also displayed signs of aggressive behavior while in captivity.

They were euthanized Thursday.
