TRAFFIC ACCIDENT: Collision on Highway 138 Aggravates LA Traffic Jam

January 03, 2011

Los Angeles - A vehicular crash on Highway 138 at Palmdale has aggravated the jam traffic condition on LA roads on Monday.

The collision on Highway 138 caused traffic jam, resulting to a number of stranded motorists on 2011's first morning commute, reports said.

Snow and rain permeated most LA roads this morning that prompted the California Highway Patrol officers to close Highway 58, Interstate 15, and Interstate 5.

The Interstate 15 has remained open, but motorists were escorted by CHP officers over southbound of Cajon Pass.

Snow level from north of Los Angeles has dropped to 2,000 feet, causing mountain pass routes to close, including Grapevine, reports said.

According to reports, motorists have been stranded for about 12 hours en route to Los Angeles.

The National Weather Service reports said that scattered showers will fall on Los Angeles until Monday, succeeded by dry and cool weather for the rest of the week.

Authorities have released a warning for motorists to avoid Santa Clarita and Antelope Valley routes due to moderate snowfall on Monday.
