Consumer Group Recalls Mugs over Risk of Burn Injuries

November 5, 2009

Washington - A federal safety group has announced a massive recall on travel mugs imported from China that may predispose consumers to burn injuries.

In a statement released by the US Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), the Newbury Travel Mugs are found to be made from materials which are not effective in insulating hot liquids.

The consumer group received one reported case of minor injuries caused by this recalled product.

The voluntary recall covers all 7.5-inch travel mugs which are sold in blue, navy blue, orange, and green lids. There is also a print of peace sign, daisy, or heart on the side of each mug.

Meanwhile, CPSC officials warn consumers to stop using the recalled products and immediately return these to the retail stores for a refund.
