MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT: Daniel Lanois seriously injured in LA motorcycle accident

Ottawa - Internationally-acclaimed guitarist and music producer Daniel Lanois sustained major injuries after falling from his motorcycle.

The artist was traversing the Silverdale hill of Los Angeles when he lost control on the brakes and knocked down.

The singer-songwriter was rushed to a nearby hospital and was under treatment in intensive care unit.

Festival spokesperson announced that the Montreal International Jazz festival, where Lanois is expected to perform on July 2, was cancelled. The organizers will allow refund for the tickets.

Medical doctors explained that Lanois need two months for recovery.

Jive Records spokesman commented that they will adjust the schedule for Lanois' projects, including the Neil Young album.

Lanois had just signed a contract with Jive and was expected to release Black Dub album, which includes artist Brian Blade and Trixie Whitley.

According to The Citizen interview, Lanois owns a BMW sport bike and a Harley motorcycle.

Police officers were still investigating the cause of accident.
