RECREATIONAL PARK ACCIDENT: Designer Diane von Furstenberg Suffered Face Injuries After Ski Crash

January 25, 2011

Los Angeles — Hollywood Designer Diane von Furstenberg sustained fractured face bones after a ski accident in Aspen.

The 64-year-old Hollywood celebrity was skiing with husband Barry Diller in Aspen when a Brazilian skier tripped and hit her on the face.

Furstenberg suffered fractured nose and some broken face bones. He was transported to UCLA Medical Center and underwent treatment, according to reports.

Reports said that the Brazilian man lost control on the ski and crashed straight to Furstenberg's face and ribs. Authorities are investigating the details on the cause of accident.

The fashion icon explained that her upcoming Fall 2011 collection to feature at Fashion Week starting February 10 will not be affected. Her Creative Director, Yvan Mispelaere, will take the lead on the New York Fashion event.

Furstenberg was well-known for her "wrap dress" design, which earned a hallmark in Costume Institute of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.

She had appearances in America's Next Top Model Cycle 15 as a judge. She initially gained popularity when she married Prince Egon of Furstenberg and received the title of Princess Diane of Furstenberg. She continued to use the surname even after her divorce in 2001.
