ANIMAL ATTACK: Dog Attack Hurts a 10-Year-Old El Rio Boy

April 16, 2011

El Rio, Ventura County - A 10-year-old boy suffered significant injuries to his face after being attacked by his neighbor’s dog Saturday morning in El Rio.

The victim was riding his bike along 3400 block of Citrus Street when a 100 lbs. pit bull suddenly came out from his neighbor’s yard and mauled him around 8:30 a.m., authorities said.

After a few moments, the pit bull backed off, giving the boy who sustained facial injuries a chance to escape to his cousin’s house. He was then rushed to Ventura County Medical Center and later transferred to Kaiser Permanente.

The Sheriff’s officers responded to the scene to conduct investigations. Ventura County Animal Control also arrived to place the dog under a 10-day-quarantine.
