Dr. Conrad Murray & Dr. Earl Bradley: The Dangerous Doctors List

“I will prescribe regimens for the good of my patients according to my ability and my judgment and never do harm to anyone…” – A line from the Hippocratic Oath

The ancient oath traditionally sworn by doctors for the ethical practice of medicine has never seemed more ancient or abused than as of late.

Dr. Conrad Murray, the doctor of the deceased Michael Jackson allegedly administered propofol and sedatives to the musician which triggered Jackson’s fatal cardiac arrest. He is now facing charges of involuntary manslaughter.

Sadly however, Murray is but a drop in the bucket of bad doctors. Here is a list of some of the most famous examples of bad doctors.

Practically anyone can be a victim of bad doctors since doctors are usually the first person people go to when they feel sick or get injured. But there are a lot of instances such as the case of Jackson when a doctor can do more harm than good.

The incident is termed as medical malpractice and this usually arises when a patient is injured because of doctor’s act or omission. Take note however, that medical malpractice is not exclusively for doctors only – the hospital, a nurse, and even a dentist can be held liable for medical malpractice.

A medical malpractice’s basis is usually negligence. When a medical practitioner deviates from rendering the standard of care or duty to the patient, if for example, a surgeon leaves a surgical glove or sponge inside the body of his patient during surgery, the patient has a right to file a medical malpractice suit against the doctor.

Take note that like other personal injury lawsuits, a medical malpractice claim requires that there is actual injury or damage suffered on the part of the victim or complaint.

But a simple injury alone will not sufficiently build a successful medical malpractice lawsuit. A very important notion in medical malpractice is that there must be a duty owed by the doctor to the patient.

Medical malpractice lawsuits however, can be quite difficult to litigate. It would require a really good attorney to be able to establish and win your case. For more information on medical malpractice, you may visit this website.
