BUS ACCIDENT: Driver with Minor Injuries after Over Correcting School Bus

May 10, 2011

Rancho Penasquitos – A 63-year-old school driver was the only one injured after the bus he was driving hit cars and trees before it crashed into a garage door Tuesday afternoon near Deer Canyon Elementary School, reports said.

According to authorities, the Poway Unified School District bus was on its way to pick up students from the school and was heading to Russet Leaf Lane around 1:30 pm when it sideswiped a parked vehicle.

The driver overcorrected and drove into an embankment before it hit trees and crossed two traffic lanes before hitting a vehicle occupied by a 4-year-old girl and her mother.

The bus continued and ended up crashing into a garage door.

No one was reportedly inside the house when the accident occurred. The girl and her mother in the other vehicle were not taken to the hospital.

Local authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident.
