MULTIPLE CAR CRASH: Elderly couple suffers injuries in Sonoma after a rollover

August 21, 2010

Sonoma – An elderly couple were injured when their car crashed into two vehicles on Sonoma County Highway Friday afternoon, according to California Highway Patrol.

The multiple car crash happened around 4 p.m. on state Highway 37, west of Highway 121 near Sears Point. James and Alice Murray, both 81 years old, were driving east on the highway in their 2007 Toyota Rav 4.

James, the driver, reportedly failed to yield to traffic stopped and rear-ended two vehicles. He crashed first onto a Toyota pickup driven by a 41-year-old Santa Rosa native man, pushing it into the center median. It then rear-ended another vehicle, a 2004 Toyota Matrix, driven by a 48-year-old Sebastopol woman.

Murrays’ vehicle eventually went off road, overturned several times, and came to rest upright alongside the highway. The couple suffered minor injuries and were taken to Sonoma Valley Hospital. The truck driver also sustained minor injuries and was sent to the hospital.
