Every 15 Minutes

4,946 teenagers from the United States, aged 13-19 years old, died from car crash injuries last 2007.

Alcohol is one of the main reasons for the high rate of teen fatalities in car accidents. Even though they’re underage and cannot legally buy alcohol, a lot of today’s teenagers still manage to get their hands on alcohol especially during house parties.

The result: tragic car accidents which could have been easily prevented if teenagers made the simple decision to not drink and drive.

Despite laws such as Zero Tolerance and the prohibition of the purchase of alcohol by people below 21 years old, teenagers are not always wise. It is for this reason why it’s important to always impress on them the fact that drunk driving is dangerous.

The responsibility falls, not only onto the shoulders of the parents but the school and community as well. Peers are likewise, just as influential and teenagers themselves should get involved in curbing teenage drunk driving deaths.

Every 15 Minutes is a school and community based alcohol prevention program where students, parents, educators, school administrators, health systems, and law enforcement personnel are involved in.

Here is a video from La Salle High, Pasadena CA which was used for their Every 15 Minutes Program:
