February 8, 2010

Redlands – The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the cause of a plane accident that killed two people in San Bernardino County.

According to an FAA spokesman, the small plane involved in the incident was classified as an experimental plane that was registered to a Riverside man.

The single engine Yak-52 took off from the Redlands Municipal Airport at about 1pm this afternoon and was about to return when it crashed down a wash 10 miles north of town.

The crash killed a man and a woman who was both onboard the plane.

The FAA did not identify who of the two victims were flying the plane.

The Yakovlev Yak-52 was designed in the former Soviet Union.

The plane was originally made for acrobatic training.
