CAR CRASH: Fatal Interstate 15 Crash Blamed on Blown Tires

August 11, 2011

Los Angeles - Authorities are looking into possibility that a blown had caused the violent, fatal collision in Interstate 15 Thursday which resulted in the death of David Nelson, an LA County Sheriff’s employee from Victorville and the lone victim of the crash.

California Highway Patrol investigators said Nelson mysteriously lost control of his Toyota Camry and veered onto the dirt shoulder until it rolled several times and eventually caught fire. Nelson died instantly in the accident.

Authorities have noted an increase in traffic deaths that may be attributed to tire problems. During summer months, heat is a factor that can adversely affect tires, authorities added.

They advised motorists to have their tires replaced every four to six months.
