CAR CRASH: Ferrari Driver Seriously injured, Passenger Killed in PCH Crash

September 19, 2011

Los Angeles - Authorities are investigating the cause of the fatal high-speed Ferrari crash on Pacific Coast Highway (PCH) that resulted in the death of its driver and serious injuries to the passenger, reports said.

Police said Vladimir Skvortsov, 24 years old, who had two previous DUI convictions and a pending one died at the scene while his companion, Basil Max Price, 23, was in critical condition.

Reports said the two were driving the Ferrari southbound on the PCH at a rate of about 90 to 100 mph early Sunday morning when the car veered off the road, hit a pole and later fell over a 30-foot cliff to the beach. The two were apparently ejected from the vehicle during the crash.

San Bernardino court records later showed that Skvortsov had been previously convicted of DUI in 2007 and 2008.

The police also learned the Skvortsov is not the registered owner of the Ferrari and was believed to be drinking before the crash.
