CAR ACCIDENT: Four Children, Adult Killed in Multiple Car Crash

Los Angeles – At least five people, four of them minors, have been killed after a driver lost control of his pick-up truck in a rain-slicked Interstate-5 in north of Los Angeles, the California Highway Patrol said.

Reports indicate that the 54-year-old the driver of a red Mazda pick-up identified as John Blackburn was driving along Newhall Pass just before midnight Sunday when he lost control of the vehicle, hit a center divider, and overturned. Blackburn died in the crash.

A Nissan Altima carrying the four children and two adults then crashed into the overturned pick-up before being hit by a Chevrolet Suburban, reports said.

The woman, identified as 27-year-old Jessica Milan remains critical in the hospital as her three children in the vehicle died along with her 12-year-old nephew Luis Villegas.

The children were identified as 9-year-old Cynthia Hernandez, 8-year-old Edgar Hernandez, and 5-year-old Xochitl Hernandez.

The driver of the Altima, 25-year-old Francisco Enciso of Daly City suffered major injuries while the four occupants of the suburban were treated for minor injuries.

Authorities had to close down the southbound lanes of I-5 as they investigated the scene and clear debris from the crash.
