BIG RIG ACCIDENT: Fresno Coroner Identifies Doctor killed in Big Rig Crash

Fresno – The Fresno County Coroner’s Office has identified the fatality in the fatal big rig accident in southeast Fresno last night as Dr. Robb Smith, 59, an internist from Fresno.

The accident occurred at about 11:34 pm at the intersection of Temperance and North avenues.

According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), Smith was northbound on Temperance aboard his 2011 Dodge while the Freightliner big rig driven by 44-year-old Fidel Solano from Selma, was going west along North when they collided at the intersection.

The CHP said that Solano had the right of way when Smith crashed into the side of the big rig.

Smith was pronounced dead on the scene while neither Solano nor his passenger, 24-year-old Jose Llado Garcia, were injured in the crash.

Alcohol was not considered a factor in the crash.
