ROLLOVER ACCIDENT: Interstate 15 rollover crash leaves 5 injured

September 19, 2010

Hesperia – At least five people were injured and brought to trauma centers Sunday morning after the vehicle they were riding crashed and rolled over several times along Interstate 15, north of Highway 395 exit, the California Highway Patrol said.

According to reports, the car was heading north on Interstate 15 at approximately 65mph when the driver lost control of it, causing it to flip over at around 6:23 am. CHP says a 4-year-old child was ejected from the car in the solo crash.

The driver and front seat passenger were brought to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in Colton, while two rear passengers were taken by helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center. A fifth passenger was treated with minor injuries.

Investigators said the child was wearing a lap and shoulder belt instead of a booster seat required by the law. The child may have been too small for the seatbelt, which was the reason why the toddler was ejected from the car.
