RECREATIONAL PARK ACCIDENT: Javelin injures Pomona teen in freak accident

Los Angeles - A 15-year-old boy has sustained injuries after a javelin pierced the right side of his body in Westmont Park Community Center in Pomona on Sunday.

The teenager found a javelin and hurled it. He consequently ran to regain it after it hits the ground. As the boy was running, he slipped and the javelin stabbed the right side of his body.

Police authorities reported that the javelin pierced through the boy's hip and buttocks. The teen managed to pull the spear from his hip. Witnesses commented that the adolescent seems to be in the state of shock.

Paramedics airlifted the boy to a local hospital. The teenager is currently in stable condition, according to reports. Details on the accident were still under investigation.
