Jeep - Bicycle Collision Injures Both Drivers

Orange – Authorities are investigating the cause of a collision between a bike and a Jeep Cherokee that sent two people to a hospital for injuries.

According to reports, the accident occurred when a Jeep Cherokee rear-ended a carbon fiber model bicycle on Santiago Canyon Road near Irvine Lake in eastern Orange County.

The bicycle was broken in half while the Jeep rolled over several times.

The bicyclist sustained moderate injuries while the Jeep Cherokee driver was in critical condition.

Firefighters said that the bicyclist was lucky not to have sustained any serious injury as he was not wearing helmet at the time of the collision.

Several lanes of the Santiago Canyon Road were closed after the accident.
