VEHICLE COLLISION: Keyes Road Big rig and Car Collision injures Three

August 5, 2010

Grayson – The California Highway Patrol (CHP) has reported a collision between a big rig and a car that seriously injured three people Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened at around 4:30 p.m. near the intersection of Vivian and Keyes roads. Investigators later found out that the driver of the car Ford Thunderbird was an unlicensed 13-year-old boy.

According to CHP officer Robert Daniels, after the car stopped at a sign at Keyes Road, it drove south and crossed an intersection. The truck, hauling two trailers, was heading west on Keyes Road and struck the car.

Daniels said that the big rig’s driver could not avoid hitting the car and was unable to stop. The car came to rest on the driver’s side on a nearby field.

The underage driver and a young, female companion suffered severe injuries and were flown to a hospital. Their names remain unreleased.

A third occupant in the car, 48-year-old Antonia Arcos, suffered minor to moderate injuries. She was also taken to a hospital. The big rig driver was uninjured.
