CAR ACCIDENT: LA Driver Dies Hours after "Carmageddon"

July 18, 2011

Los Angeles- A male driver has died in a collision with another vehicle on Sepulveda Boulevard, hours after the start of "Carmageddon".

The 28-year-old motorist was heading northbound on Sepulveda Boulevard when he crossed the center divider and struck a Porsche Carrera on Saturday morning, according to Los Angeles police reports.

Reports said paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he died shortly after. Details on the medical condition of the other driver are not yet available.

The victim took an alternate route on Sepulveda Boulevard because the 405 freeway is closed, reports said.

Authorities are still investigating the details on the cause of accident.

Police officers commented that the collision is the first reported crash, hours after the H-405 closure or the so-called "Carmageddon". Tighter security will be implemented as the freeway is under construction until Monday.
