MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT: Male Rider Killed in Motorcycle Accident in State Highway 4

Martinez – A motorcycle accident on State Highway 4 in Martinez has resulted in the death of one person this morning.

The crash happened on the eastbound lane of the highway near Morello Avenue at about 7:52 pm

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) said the motorcycle accident occurred when a 38-year-old man from Concord was not able to immediately stop his 2007 Harley Davidson from rear-ending a 1999 Ford Expedition after rounding out a curve.

According to the CHP, the motorcyclist was moving at 70mph in the No.1 lane.

A CHP officer who was stopped in traffic several cars away immediately responded to the accident and gave first aid to the injured motorcyclist before the ambulance arrived.

The motorcyclist was brought to John Muir Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

The 50-year-old driver of the Ford Expedition was not hurt in the collision.

A Sig-Alert was announced at 8:04am and the roadways were reopened at 8:53 a.m.
