EMPLOYMENT DISCRIMINATION: McMahon RV to pay $385K for Age Discrimination Suit

February 21, 2011

Santa Ana – A salesman and former employee will receive about $385,000 in damages for an age discrimination suit he filed against his former employer.

An Orange County jury has released the decision last Wednesday requiring vehicle retailer McMahon RV to compensate the losses of 68-year-old Bob Liemandt after discriminating and wrongfully terminating him because of his age.

According to Liemandt’s suit, after his heart attack in 2005, his managers started asking him to quit his job. His co-employees also confirmed hearing their boss say that they need to get rid of him.

McMahon RV’s attorney claimed that his client was forced to terminate the complainant because of poor performance. The jury looked into Liemandt’s records and said that he was not a subpar employee.

McMahon will file an appeal to have a new trial and reduce the damages of the dispute.
