Ms. Nourashemi was a 19 year old clerk at the bank at the time of the incident. On June 19, 2008, she attended a birthday party for one of her fellow employees at the home of another employee. During that party, several managerial employees attempted to pressure her into drinking alcoholic beverages. She left the room to avoid this pressure, but the managers followed her, eventually trapping her in an upstairs room. When she fled that room, the managers followed her and one of them grabbed her violently by the throat, before she managed to finally flee the party.

After this incident, Ms. Nourashemi began to feel uncomfortable at work and requested a transfer from the branch. Her request was met with a threat from the bank’s district manager, who essentially blamed her for the attack. This campaign of harassment eventually forced her to take a medical leave.

They secured multiple witness statements and with those statements, were able to fully recreate the events of the evening in question.
