PERSONAL INJURY LAW: Michael Jacksons father to File Wrongful Death Case against Doctor

June 25, 2010

Los Angeles – Joe Jackson, the father of Michael Jackson, is set to file a wrongful death lawsuit seeking unspecified monetary damages against his son’s doctor, Dr. Conrad Murray, who had previously admitted giving the singer the sedative propofol, which allegedly caused his death. The lawsuit will be filed today in federal court because Murray is not a California resident.

According to the lawsuit, Murray had withheld information from paramedics who could have saved the singer. It also charged the doctor with attempting to clean up and hide evidence related to Jackson’s death.

Police found about 20 prescription drugs that included methadone, fentanyl, and dilaudid in Jackson’s rented mansion.

Murray is facing charges of involuntary manslaughter and scheduled to appear for preliminary hearing on August 26.
