July 29,2011

Los Angeles- Motorsports icon Travis Pastrana was injured after a dirt bike accident during the Moto X Best Trick competition in Staples Center on Thursday night.

According to reports, Pastrana was making a 720-degree Toilet Paper Roll motorcycle trick when he landed short twice. On his second attempt, the motorcycle fell on his right leg. He suffered broken bones and was transported to a local hospital.

Pastrana failed to complete a full flip and twist technique on his first attempt, but was able to go back on his bike. He repeated the stunt, but the second fall caused him leg injuries, reports said.

Pastrana-Waltrip Racing Team Owner Michael Waltrip commented that Pastrana will not be able to appear on his NASCAR Nationwide Series debut in Indianapolis on Saturday night. The motocross star has to undergo surgery and therapy for his injuries. They are expecting that Pastrana can resume his NASCAR career on Sept. 9.

Pastrana has won gold medals in X Games and other motocross competitions. He previously signed up in seven races for the NASCAR Nationwide Series.
