SOCIAL SECURITY: Newt Gingrich earning slams in Medicare criticism

May 17, 2011

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is now facing backlash on his shocking criticism of fellow republican Paul Ryan regarding his proposal to revamp Medicare to a private insurance program.

The plan, according to Ryan, is part of a congressional budget blueprint which aims to minimize government spending and to loosen the tight collar of the national budget.

Ryan praised that the current steps that the House undertakes in allocating budget are “credible” in regulating healthcare costs to a public friendly level, given Medicare’s dire financial projection for the next few years.

While the plan was drawing intense criticism, fellow GOP representative Newt Gingrich surprisingly criticized the proposed plan as “right-wing social engineering” and a “radical change.”

His criticism drew intense backlash from both fellow Republicans and the American populace, forcing Newt Gingrich on the defensive and his presidential candidacy short-lived.

"I'm totally for what Paul Ryan is trying to do in general terms," he clarified.

The Democrats are now using the opportunity to gain popularity on 50 vulnerable districts by using the internal conflict now plaguing the G.O.P.
