MULTI-VEHICLE ACCIDENT: One Dead, Another Critical in Northridge Multi Vehicle Accident

June 21, 2010

Northridge - A female passenger of a SUV died and another is currently in critical condition after a multi-vehicle accident in Northridge this morning.

The car accident involved three cars and occurred before 7:30am in the intersection of Reseda Boulevard and Devonshire Street.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, an Infiniti SUV was waiting for a green light in a turn lane when it was rear-ended by a speeding Mercedes Sedan, which was traveling eastbound.

The collision threw the SUV into the intersection where it burst into flames.

Firefighters immediately responded to the scene but they were unable to save an unidentified woman, who was the only occupant in the SUV.

The Mercedes Sedan, on the other hand, clipped another vehicle and rolled over before coming to rest near a parking lot.

The driver of the Mercedes was taken immediately to the hospital and is currently in critical condition.

Two occupants in the third vehicle refused treatment from paramedics.

It is not clear yet if the LAPD will fire charges to the unidentified driver of the Mercedes Sedan.
