WRONGFUL DEATH LAWSUIT: Parties Agreed to Settlement in DUI-related Collision

Los Angeles – Lawyers for both parties in the fatal Costa Mesa accident have announced settlement of the wrongful death lawsuit filed by the family of Ryan Dallas Cook, who 23-year old victim of a collision caused by former Hyundai executive Youn Bum Lee.

Although, the details of the agreement were not disclosed, Cook’s lawyer said the terms were both satisfactory to all parties.

The trial on the lawsuit began on September 7 but the negotiations were only finalized recently.

Lee pleaded guilty to gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and fleeing an accident scene. He was later sentenced to nine years in prison.

The accident occurred on October 19, 2005. Records showed that Cook, who was riding a motorcycle crashed into the SUV driven by Lee, who was apparently drank. Lee fled the scene after the accident but drove the damaged vehicle back to work the following day.

Lee is serving his sentence in the Sierra Conservation Center in Jamestown.

Cook was a musician who played in the Orange County-based Suburban Legends band.
