April 29, 2010

San Dimas – The California Highway patrol is investigating a multi-vehicle accident on Freeway 10 that killed a Rancho Cucamonga man yesterday morning. Authorities identified the victim as 46-year-old Pedro Medina.

According to the CHP, the car accident happened at about 7:30 am when Medina sideswiped a 1995 Mazda and then rear-ended a 1995 Mitsubishi 3000GT.

The collision turned into a chain accident when the Mazda and the Mitsubishi each ended up hitting another car. One of the struck cars ended up hitting a 2001 Kia. In all, there were six vehicles involved in the crash.

Responding officers found Medina unconscious in his car and had to remove him from the driver’s seat to give him CPR.

Medina was taken to Pomona Valley Hospital, where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

Another woman was hurt in the chain accident but only sustained minor injuries.
