ROAD SAFETY VIOLATIONS: Rodney King Claims Not Guilty in DUI Case

November 7, 2011

Los Angeles - Rodney King has pleaded not guilty to charges of driving under the influence (DUI) arising from his arrest last July by Riverside County sheriff deputies for drunk driving, reports said.

Court records from the Riverside Superior Court showed that King was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence and driving with a blood alcohol content (BAC) above the legal limit of 0.08 percent.

King became the subject of national news when he was seen in a video being beaten by Los Angeles police in 1991. Four officers were tried but were acquitted later which led to the 1992 Los Angeles riots.

The court set King’s next hearing on the DUI charges on November 21.
