CAR ACCIDENT: Sacramento Woman Killed in Hit-and-Run Accident on I-80

May 16, 2011

Sacramento — A woman driving a 2001 Mercury SUV was killed in a car accident while driving eastbound on Interstate-80 near Interstate-5 a few days ago.

The unnamed driver was finally identified by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office to be Krystal Somer Sigler, a 19-year-old woman from Sacramento.

The van was reported to have clipped a 1995 Toyota Tercel while driving along the highway, causing the SUV to hit the median of the road and to overturn.

The force of the impact ejected Sigler and her passenger to the highway.

The passenger sustained only minor injuries while Sigler was ran over by other vehicles, causing her death.

Sigler and her passenger were not wearing any seatbelts.

Authorities are now investigating the accident as a hit-and-run case because the vehicle that hit Sigler did not stop.
