BUS ACCIDENT: School Bus Crash Injures Kids, Driver

May 07, 2010

Valley Center – At least three children, including the school bus driver, were injured after a teenage driver drifted onto the path of the approaching school bus near West Lilac Road Friday morning, the California Highway patrol said.

The 16-year-old driver of the Nissan Altima was reportedly driving on the southbound lanes of Lilac Road at around 7am when he suddenly swerved to the opposite lanes and hit the front side of the bus. The bus driver swerved to the right and the front axle was dislodged.

The 62-year-old bus driver complained of arm pains and the passengers, including 5-year-old girls sustained minor injuries to the neck and head. Authorities believed that alcohol and drugs were not factors in the accident as they continue to investigate the accident.
