Mesriani Lawyers to Settle Claim with Slip and Fall Victim

LOS ANGELES – An apartment owner has agreed to settle his obligations with the 56-year old injured victim of a slip and fall accident that occurred in a Brentwood apartment after lawyers from the Mesriani Law Group helped her pursue her claims.

The victim, who incidentally is also a tenant, said the accident happened while she was descending the stairs to take out a small trash bag to the dumpster at the back of her apartment.

While going down, she stepped on the debris of broken clay pot and soil littered on the left side of the staircase, causing her “to slip and fall a few steps below with the left side of her body, particularly her left hand, face and head impacting the concrete steps”.

According to the victim, she tried to break her fall by grabbing on the hand railing but there was none on the left. The right hand railing was also too far for her to reach.

Before that, the victim said she tried to inform the apartment owner regarding the risk of broken flowerpots and the need to clean the staircase of its debris. Despite that, the apartment owner did not act on it or remedy the situation nor place warning signs to caution tenants who will use the stairs.

Because of these negligent acts, the victim suffered from severe pain caused by the fall as she landed with her left hand, wrist, and the left side of her body, neck as well as her face, head, and nose bearing the impact. Due to the seriousness of her injuries, she was immediately brought to a hospital.

The medical examination showed that the victim suffered from serious injuries such as fracture of the radius bone in her arm, facial fracture, orbital contusion or injury to the eye socket (also called the eye orbit), lacerations and minor head injury, which was treated with pain medication.

Because of her injuries, the victim had to undergo various treatments in several medical facilities and had to shoulder stiff medical expenses. She also had to endure the pain and suffering that came along with her injuries, thereby affecting her life immensely.
