Sports Utility Vehicles: How Safe are They?

The most important thing to keep in mind when hitting the road is safety. But sometimes safety does not solely depend on the individual’s will and motivation to abide by the rules and regulations. Accidents are called accidents because they are unwanted events which lead to serious consequences, some of which even culminate to deaths, or serious, debilitating injuries. Hence the best thing to do is to always take the opportunity to decrease the likelihood of meeting an accident while traveling along a road.

Determining automobile safety is not one of the easiest things to do if you’re not a vehicle expert. But the emergence of the internet makes it easier to determine if a particular vehicle, an SUV for example, is actually unsafe relative to other vehicles in the road.

The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety is a non-profit organization what was founded as a campaign to reduce vehicular accidents on the road. Recently, they released an informative list of the safest and most dangerous SUV’s that are still being sold and are still gracing the roads as of the present time.

Sports Utility Vehicles, better known as SUV’s, are vehicles which have been questioned as regards their safety against rollover accidents. It was said by The Institute that SUV’s used to have a high rollover risk over their size/weight advantage. But with the introduction of the electronic stability control systems (ESC), driver deaths have been substantially decreased.

The Institute decided to publicize the results of their study. Here is the corresponding list of the 15 safest SUV’s that are currently in the market:
