PRODUCT RECALL: Starbucks Recalls $9 Water Bottle

January 28, 2010

Washington - The US Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced that Starbucks had initiated the voluntary product recall of their $9 water bottles that were sold in their cafes.

The recall was initiated after the company received reports about ten cases where the bottle and/or its stopper shattered while the consumer is inserting or removing the stopper.

In eight of those cases, the shattering caused lacerations to the consumer.

The said glass can be bought to any of their cafes and at Starbucks locations in Safeway and Target Store all over the US.

The 20-ounce water bottle is made of clear glass with SKU number 11003503 and has a blue label with the words “Glass Water Bottle” printed on it.

All consumers are advised to stop using the product and return the water bottle to the Starbucks location where it was purchased.

Starbucks will be giving a full refund and a complimentary beverage of any size to consumers upon return of the said water bottles.

For more information about the recall, you may go to their website at www.starbucks.com or call at (877) 492 – 6333 between 5am to 8pm PT Monday through Friday.
