PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT : Sunnyvale “Guitar Man” Struck and Killed in Highway 101 Pedestrian Accident

January 19, 2010

Sunnyvale – Authorities are investigating the reason why a 42-year-old man was running across several lanes of the Highway 101 shortly before he was struck and killed by an oncoming car Sunday night.

The Santa Clara Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Guy Myers of Sunnyvale but it would take about six weeks to get the results of the toxicology report that will help determine cause of death.

Myer’s was known as the “Guitar man” and frequently plays his guitar outside convenience stores to earn small tips.

CHP reports show that Myers was running across the freeway south of Lawrence Expressway when he was struck by a Dodge Neon at about 10pm.

The 58-year-old Salinas man who was driving the Neon told CHP officers that he did not see the man crossing the freeway. There were no arrests made by the CHP.
