VEHICLE ACCIDENT: Teen Extricated from Truck under Excavator

April 15, 2010

Carlsbad – A 17-year-old female pick-up truck driver sustained serious injuries and had to be extricated from her vehicle after being stuck under an excavator on Carlsbad Boulevard early Thursday morning, reports said.

Authorities were called in by a motorist who noticed the stranded Ford F-150 with its flashers on at around 1 am. The teen reportedly drove through barricades and chain-link fence before hitting the construction equipment about 2,100 feet away from closed-road signs.

The road was under construction and has been closed since February.

Reports indicate that the girl was heading back to her family who were camping at Carlsbad State Beach when the accident occurred. She was said to have gone home and fed the cat before she met the accident.

The girl, whose identities are yet to be released, was airlifted to a hospital. Her condition remains to be unknown.
