CAR ACCIDENT: Toyota Produces Hardware for New Collision-Avoidance System

July 15, 2011

Los Angeles- Toyota is creating a hardware that can contain a new collision-avoidance application.

According to reports, Toyota received a wireless safety software from University Of Bologna. The car manufacturer then worked on a hardware that can house the application as well as fit the dashboard. The new technology is expected to alert drivers of oncoming road hazard.

The application features a sensor that can detect an accident scene within 984 to 3,281 feet. The software will then send a message, alerting approaching vehicles of a potential chain crash. It is expected to reduce multi-vehicle accident by 40 percent, reports said.

Critics commented that the information from nearby vehicles can help a motorist execute emergency action ahead of time, especially during rainy or snowy season.
