Paramount – A man was killed when he got trapped inside the wreckage of his vehicle after being involved in a collision early Monday, authorities said.

The two-car collision occurred on Garfield Avenue near 105 Freeway overpass at about 2:45 am. The driver of one of the cars involved was trapped inside the vehicle.

It took firefighters one and a half hour to take him out of the car, Supervising Dispatcher Ed Pickett said. But the unnamed driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

Witnesses added that three people involved fled after the crash, which involved a minivan and a Chrysler 300. Authorities are still investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Relatives of the man are to be notified about his death, Assistant Chief Ed Winter of the coroner's office said.
