CAR ACCIDENT: Two-Vehicle Collision Kills Infant, Injures 8 others

February 15, 2010

Fresno - Authorities are investigating a two-vehicle collision along northwest of Fowler that left a 7-month-old boy dead and eight others injured.

The boy was identified by the Fresno County Coroner’s office as Kevin Galindo, from Fresno.

According to police, the infant was inside a vehicle that was moving east on Clayton Avenue when it suddenly collided with another vehicle that was moving south on Minnewawa Avenue.

The collision’s impact threw the boy from the vehicle. A child safety seat that seemed to be in a good working condition was found by the authorities nearby. However, the seat’s shoulder straps were not secured and it is uncertain if it was used properly, said police.

The vehicle’s four occupants Esther and Jose Galindo, both 35, Esther Galindo, 10, and Armando Galindo, 12, all sustained minor injuries.

Meanwhile, four Livingston residents inside the southbound vehicle also suffered cuts and complained of pain. Police identified them as Baljinder Sodhi, 37, Sunveer Rabbi, 5, Daljit Kaur, 28, and Harkaran Rabbi, 9.

Authorities are still trying to determine the cause of the collision.
