PERSONAL INJURY LAW: US to approve LA nuclear accident zone clean up

September 3, 2010

Los Angeles - Federal government officials, including Department of Energy and NASA have confirmed an agreement to clean a nuclear accident area meters away from Los Angeles city.

Federal and state officials have agreed to purge radioactive contamination in the former Santa Susana Field Laboratory. The site had a nuclear meltdown, rocket fuel flare-up that fatally injured two scientists, and series of toxic waste leakage since 1959, reports said.

The foundation report also pointed out the relationship between the economy and road conditions and traffic problems. The report showed that in most parts of the country, the roads are in good shape because less people are driving, which make roads less vulnerable to wear and tear, during these hard economic times.

Boeing Co., which currently owns the Santa Susana Field Laboratory, is reviewing the proposal to implement extensive clean up for the site.
