PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT: Woman Struck Dead by Car in Highway 156

June 9, 2011

A woman trying to help another driver has been struck by a Toyota Sedan and died immediately along Highway 156.

The 36-year-old woman from Sierra foothills stopped and went out of the car to help a driver whose vehicle was wrecked on the side of the road when the Sedan suddenly hit her as she was getting back to her SUV, according to Officer Robert Lehman.

The accident was witnessed up-front by her 13-year-old son, he added. The son was reported to be talking to a counselor while investigations are being performed.

Officials closed Highway 156 east of Highway 101 to conduct an investigation and talk to the driver of the Sedan.

The road is set to reopen after 1 p.m.
